Jackie devotes her entire practice to zealously representing those accused of committing crimes, either as adults or as juveniles. Jackie has a record of good outcomes from trials she has presented to juries. Additionally, Jackie has negotiated many cases to a complete dismissal of all charges.
Prior to establishing a criminal defense practice, Jackie served as Assistant District Attorney for the Travis County District Attorney’s Office from February 2000 until November 2011. Jackie served in the 167th and 390th District Court Trial Divisions, the 147th, 299th, 390th, and 403rd Family Justice Divisions, and in the Juvenile Division, White Collar and Environmental Crime Division and the Civil Division. Before becoming a prosecutor, Jackie was an associate with the defense law firm Wilson, Grosenheider, Moore & Jacobs, LLP from September 1996 until February 2000. In the first year of her career, Ms. Wood served as a law clerk to the Honorable Jane Boyle, United States Magistrate for the United States Court, Northern District of Texas.
Jackie received her Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Texas School of Law in 1995. While attending law school, she was the Senior Manuscript Editor of the American Journal of Criminal Law and participated on U.T.’s National Mock Trial Team. In her last semester of law school, Ms. Wood was an intern to the Honorable Bea Ann Smith with the Court of Appeals for the Third District of Texas. Jackie obtained her Bachelors of Arts in Mathematics, graduating with High Honors from the University of Texas at Austin in 1992. She is a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
Bar Admissions & Activities: Jackie was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in November 1995. She is also admitted to practice before the United States Courts, Northern and Western Districts of Texas and the United States Court of Appeals, Fifth Circuit. Jackie is a member of the Austin Bar Association, Austin Criminal Defense Lawyer’s Association, and the Texas Defense Lawyer’s Association.
